Honor According to Miriam webster dictionary.
Respect that is given to someone who is admired : recognition :was treated with honor
Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
Honor is recognizing what God has placed in someone and how it’s related to you.
Honor those that are in authority-The earthly leaders.
1 Peter 2:13-17 Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, 14 or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. 15 For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people. 16 Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves. 17 Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor.
· Honor the leaders and those in authority.
· Some blessings are held in the hands of those in authority-They may not be born again. You can only unlock them through honor.
· You may not like their leadership, but do not call them names like, ‘Kasongo’ and others. This can block your rise to those levels.
· A Christian cannot be a Christian partially. You cannot be very obedient here in giving tithes and offerings, but you don’t pay govt taxes.
· A great worshiper or leader here but too messy at work. Comes late and never finishes his works.
SPIRITUAL authority in honor.
Numbers 12:1- Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite. 2 “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses?” they asked. “Hasn’t he also spoken through us?” And the Lord heard this.3 (Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.)4 At once the Lord said to Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, “Come out to the tent of meeting, all three of you.” So the three of them went out. 5 Then the Lord came down in a pillar of cloud; he stood at the entrance to the tent and summoned Aaron and Miriam. When the two of them stepped forward, 6 he said, “Listen to my words: “When there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, reveal myself to them in visions, I speak to them in dreams.7 But this is not true of my servant Moses; he is faithful in all my house.8 With him I speak face to face, clearly and not in riddles; he sees the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?”
· Moses was younger but he was the anointed one.
· My sister Rev. Tabitha is younger, but when I come to Kingdom queens ,she is the spiritual authority.
· I have older brothers, but if they come in the church at Dallas, they have to submit to my authority as the senior pastor.
Do you notice that he is the one praying for Miriam’s deliverance? Because he is the one with authority to unlock the curse on her?
1 Samuel 13:13“You have done a foolish thing,” Samuel said. “You have not kept the command the Lord your God gave you; if you had, he would have established your kingdom over Israel for all time. 14 But now your kingdom will not endure; the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him ruler of his people, because you have not kept the Lord’s command.”
He did not only dishonor the authority of God but even the priest, and he cut off his destiny.
1 Samuel 17:28 But when David’s oldest brother, Eliab, heard David talking to the men, he was angry. “What are you doing around here anyway?” he demanded. “What about those few sheep you’re supposed to be taking care of? I know about your pride and deceit. You just want to see the battle!”
David brings the favor of the anointing to the battlefield, but his brothers doesn’t recognize it.do you hear their names anywhere else thereafter?
1 Timothy 5:17 The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work in preaching and teaching.
Honor to the fathers and destiny helpers
BIOLOGICAL fathers
Exodus 20:12 “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
Ephesians 6:2 “Honor your father and mother"—which is the first commandment with a promise.
Genesis 27:37 Isaac answered and said to Esau, “Behold, I have made him lord over you, and all his brothers I have given to him for servants, and with grain and wine I have sustained him. What then can I do for you, my son?” 38 Esau said to his father, “Have you but one blessing, my father? Bless me, even me also, O my father.” And Esau lifted up his voice and wept.
Do you notice Isaac had the authority to MAKE Jacob Lord Over Esau?
· You do not honor your father because he did good to you, it’s just because he is your father.
· You are not to honor him because he paid your tuition in Scheel, it’s just because he is your father
· You are not to honor him because he lived with you, just because he is your father.
SPIRITUAL FATHERS.
2 Kings 2:1- When the Lord was about to take Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind, Elijah and Elisha were on their way from Gilgal. 2 Elijah said to Elisha, “Stay here; the Lord has sent me to Bethel. “But Elisha said, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” So they went down to Bethel.3 The company of the prophets at Bethel came out to Elisha and asked, “Do you know that the Lord is going to take your master from you today? ”Yes, I know,” Elisha replied, “so be quiet.”4 Then Elijah said to him, “Stay here, Elisha; the Lord has sent me to Jericho. “And he replied, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” So they went to Jericho.5 The company of the prophets at Jericho went up to Elisha and asked him, “Do you know that the Lord is going to take your master from you today? “Yes, I know,” he replied, “so be quiet.”6 Then Elijah said to him, “Stay here; the Lord has sent me to the Jordan. “And he replied, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” So the two of them walked on.7 Fifty men from the company of the prophets went and stood at a distance, facing the place where Elijah and Elisha had stopped at the Jordan. 8 Elijah took his cloak, rolled it up and struck the water with it. The water divided to the right and to the left, and the two of them crossed over on dry ground.9 When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, “Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you? ”Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,” Elisha replied.
Genesis 49:26 Your father’s blessings are greater than the blessings of the ancient mountains, than the bounty of the age-old hills. Let all these rest on the head of Joseph, on the brow of the prince among his brothers.
The bible tells us how David, Joseph were sent by their fathers. They were obedient-they had honor.
What about Isaack who obeyed to the level of lying on the altar to be sacrificed?
Others think honor is denying yourself independence.
Some fall short of growth because they cannot consistently honor their fathers.
They reach a point where they feel they are good to go.
There are those who close doors ahead of them because they fail to honor destiny helpers.
Honor is not deficiency.
Honor is not weakness.
Remember : Honor is recognizing what God has placed in someone and how it’s related to you.
Honor destiny helper
A destiny helper is someone divinely connected to your destiny. He or she helps you to achieve what God has predestined you to be.
§ The Aron/people that spoke for you to be where God wanted you to be.
Exodus 4:15-16 Aaron will be your spokesman to the people. He will be your mouthpiece, and you will stand in the place of God for him, telling him what to say.
§ The Jonathan/people that stuck with you to help you be the king you are. 1 Samuel 19
§ The Mordecai that stood with you to be queen.

· You can never grow so big and successful that you have no one on earth to honor, Esther maintained her honor even as queen.
· On the other hand, Vashti thought she was too favored to give honor hence her downfall.
· There are blessings we can never receive until we unlock those specific areas.
We talked about honor, but we must note that those who honor, in their path to greatness, shall receive honor.
· When men honor you, do not think so highly of yourself.
· When men honor you, do not think it’s because you are better than them.
· When men honor you, do not think that they cannot do without you.
· When men honor you, respect them for being wise and humble enough to honor you.
· Above all honor the Lord God who has given you favor.
Proverb 18: Before a downfall the heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.
1. Honor the elders who direct the affairs of the church.
1 Timothy 5:17: The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching.
Who would you honor in the church?
Are we so naïve that we forget the priest when the king appears?
Unless the church recognizes the role of the priest, battles will not be worn.
What does it tell you about the leader in your department?
2. Honor Marriage
Hebrews 13:4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.
Stop taking marriages for granted. Stop crazy jokes to the unmarried.
Marriage is not a partnership ,Marriage is a covenant.
3. Honor God.
John 5:23: That all may honor the son just as they honor the father. Whoever does not honor the son does not honor the father, who sent him.
Revelation 4:11: “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”
v Stop taking the house of God for granted.
v Stop using cellphones in the house of God.
v Close your eyes and focus during prayers.
v Do not be casual when you go at the altar of God.
Those who honor me I will honor.
1 Samuel 2:30 “Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, declares: ‘I promised that members of your family would minister before me forever.’ But now the Lord declares: ‘Far be it from me! Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained.’”
Honor the lord with words.
Psalm 29:2 “Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.”
Honor the Lord with your wealth
Proverbs 3:9-10 “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.”
1 Peter 2:12 Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world.
Dishonor
Dishonor brings early death.
Deuteronomy 21:18-21 If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and who, when they have chastened him, will not heed them, then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city, to the gate of his city. And they shall say to the elders of his city. "This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious; he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard." Then all the men of his city shall stone him to death with stones; so you shall put away the evil from among you, and all Israel shall hear and fear.
Exodus 20:12: “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.”
Ephesians 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3 “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.
· You wonder why some people are followed by death in everything they do?
· Why do some ministries die before they start?
· Why even some die an early physical death?
Dishonor brings generational servitude and failure in life
The Sons of Noah // Shem dishonors his father.
Genesis 9:18 The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth. (Ham was the father of Canaan.) 19 These were the three sons of Noah, and from them came the people who were scattered over the whole earth.20 Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded[a] to plant a vineyard. 21 When he drank some of its wine, he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent. 22 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father naked and told his two brothers outside. 23 But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders; then they walked in backward and covered their father’s naked body. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father naked.
24 When Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him, 25 he said,
“Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers.”
26 He also said, “Praise be to the Lord, the God of Shem! May Canaan be the slave of Shem.27 May God extend Japheth’s[b] territory; may Japheth live in the tents of Shem, and may Canaan be the slave of Japheth.”
· He just didn’t remember who was naked.
· The fact is that the father was naked. But he was the father.
· Some people will never be in position of great authority because they love to talk of their father’s nakedness.
· Maybe it’s you spiritual father.
· Maybe its your biological father, and all you talk about with your siblings is how your father married a crazy second wife-it’s his naked but try to cover it.
GENESIS 49 :3 “Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might, the first sign of my strength, excelling in honor, excelling in power.4 Turbulent as the waters, you will no longer excel, for you went up onto your father’s bed, onto my couch and defiled it.
Dishonor alters the plan of god in your life.
Sons of Eli dishonors God
1 Samuel 2:25-30 If someone sins against a man, God will mediate for him, but if someone sins against the Lord, who can intercede for him?” But they would not listen to the voice of their father, for it was the will of the Lord to put them to death.
26 Now the boy Samuel continued to grow both in stature and in favor with the Lord and also with man.
The Lord Rejects Eli's Household
27 And there came a man of God to Eli and said to him, “Thus says the Lord, ‘Did I indeed reveal myself to the house of your father when they were in Egypt subject to the house of Pharaoh? 28 Did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to go up to my altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? I gave to the house of your father all my offerings by fire from the people of Israel. 29 Why then do you scorn[a] my sacrifices and my offerings that I commanded for my dwelling, and honor your sons above me by fattening yourselves on the choicest parts of every offering of my people Israel?’ 30 Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, declares: ‘I promised that your house and the house of your father should go in and out before me forever,’ but now the Lord declares: ‘Far be it from me, for those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
When honor deserts you
· You feel you can do it yourself, you do not need the authority of the person. [Saul plays the role of Samuel]
· You feel you do not owe anyone-You cannot apologize even when you miss a meeting.
· Your feelings take priority-selfish-sons of Eli.
· You become prideful and start undermining others -David’s brothers.
· When you have to be reminded to honor.
